1989 Carolina Ford Dealers Thunderbird

Mark continued a limited Busch Grand National schedule in 1989, running in the Bill Davis owned Carolina Ford Dealers Thunderbird. The cars were built by Davis, and the engines were built by Don Kowalski. Mark is the first driver in the history of the Busch Grand National series to win a race in a Ford. Through 1989, he held all of Ford's Grand National wins.  He won one race in the Busch series that year.

Mark had a lot of serious input on the Carolina Ford Dealers cars which were built in a 5,000 square foot shop behind Bill's house. Bill did not move to North Carolina until he went full time with Jeff Gordon.

Thanks to Zack Jennings for the historical information on this car.
