1982 was Mark's first full year in NASCAR Winston Cup racing. In July of 1982, Mark picked up Larry McReynolds as his crew chief.  He was the Winston Cup Rookie-of-the-Year Runner-Up, behind Geoff Bodine.  The team struggled through these years, though, and Mark would eventually return to ASA in 1984.
