Mark won two Winston Cup races and one pole in 1999.  He started his 400th Cup race in California on May 2.

Mark was involved in an accident during practice for the '99 Brickyard 400 that required some sheet metal repairs. The photo above shows the car in the middle of the process of re-skinning the left side of the car.
