1989 was the first year for the re-designed Thunderbird, Stroh Light became Stroh's Light, and Mark finally scored his first Winston Cup victory in 1989, the AC Delco 500 at Rockingham, his 113th start.  He also won six poles, and it was the first year that he earned over $1 million dollars in the series.
