Thanks to Zack
Jennings for the photo and historical information on this
car.
Bill Davis' first car was the SAI sponsored Ford Thunderbird ASA
Car that Mark drove in 1987 on a limited schedule while driving in his first year
with Roush on the Busch Grand National circuit. Bill built the car at Larry Shaw
Racing in Batesville with constant instructions from Mark over
the phone and a few quick trips.
Mark won six poles and three Busch races in 1987 (including his first), and was
the first driver to ever win a pole or a race in that series in a Ford.
Mark played a major role in developing Bill Davis's move into
Racing. Bill still has his house and Trucking business here. Gail
runs the Trucking business.
